GSM’s history with Iceland now stretches back over twenty years and we have been key to the new builds as well as refurbishment of their stores across the UK. We were therefore very delighted to have been selected to become involved with the design of their new concept stores. Iceland are branding their stores as Food Warehouses and are trailing the concept across the UK in four new sites.
GSM Limited are responsible for developing two of the four new stores in Midway and Old Kent Road. The new concept is about having no suspended ceilings in the stores, meaning that all the services will be on show to their customers. It calls for neat tidy and professional work to be carried out to achieve an aesthetic look for the Iceland customers when they are in the stores.
In technical terms GSM’s brief is to install a Mitsubishi VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) System serving four ducted fan coils with drum jet diffusers installed at high level on the sales floor. The whole system is controlled through a fully integrated BMS system linked direct to Iceland’s Head Office in Deeside.
GSM provided a bespoke control panel with an integrated Mitsubishi AE200 touch screen controller. The panel was designed to control the Heating and Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as operate the stores lighting and alarm systems. The control panel was fitted with a M2M BAC-NET system which allowed remote monitoring of the store back at Iceland’s Head Office
