HVAC Upgrade at Iceland Headquarters – D Side
Client: Iceland Foods
Location: Headquarters, D Side
Sector: Commercial / Retail
Project Type: HVAC Installation with Energy Recovery
Overview
As part of Iceland’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency, we were tasked with delivering a high-performance HVAC solution at their headquarters (D Side). The aim was to improve internal climate control(heating, cooling) while significantly reducing energy usage, aligning with the company’s broader environmental goals.
Our Solution
We designed and installed a bespoke air handling system featuring a thermal wheel for energy recovery. And Low-Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) integration for efficient space heating.
Key components of the project included:
- Thermal Wheel Technology – This high-efficiency heat recovery system captures heat from exhaust air and transfers it to the incoming fresh air stream. It ensures optimal indoor comfort while cutting down on energy demand.
- LTHW System – The integration of LTHW provides a sustainable heating source, reducing the overall carbon footprint and aligning with Iceland’s energy efficiency targets.
- Specialist Equipment & Crane Installation – Due to the size and complexity of the air handling unit, it was craned into position using precision equipment. Our team coordinated closely with site management to ensure minimal disruption.
Results
- Improved energy efficiency through smart heat recovery
- Enhanced internal air quality and comfort for staff and visitors
- Reduced heating demand and emissions via LTHW integration
- Seamless delivery of a complex project, on time and within budget
Looking Ahead
This project reflects Iceland’s proactive approach to sustainable building management. And will continue to operate for many years to come.
